Traveline Scotland have recently updated both their App and website, so you may find that some old web addresses no longer send you to the right place.
The direct link to the Traveline Scotland journey planner is now: https://www.travelinescotland.com/journey-planner
Some of the features of the Journey Planner have changed slightly - selection of modes of transport is no longer shown by “ticks” but instead by background colours. So, if you want to remove “Train” from the list of possible vehicles then you need to click on the “Train” button to change its background from yellow to white, as shown below:
One useful new features is that if you click on “Options” you can change your preferences about how the travel planner works:
We discussed on our recent article about Sunday Trips how setting a requirement of 5 minutes needed to change buses meant that the travel planner missed seeing some useful connections that needed exactly 5 minutes, or maybe even slightly less…
You can now adjust this allowance to suit your own preferences - then click on “Save” and plan your journey with the new settings.
Beware that the planner doesn’t know everything.
Its list of fares doesn’t include the Stagecoach Dayrider tickets that we like.
And it takes some work to find the page about Demand Responsive Transport like the Go-Flexi bus as it’s hidden away at a very odd internet address: https://transportscotland-lts.trapezegroupazure.co.uk/cms/page/drt-ct-info
In other news… I did try a day trip to Perth on the 95 and 65 recently… the journey to Perth worked quite well, although the 65 was running late when it arrived in St Andrews due to various sets of roadworks on the route, and was therefore a few minutes late into Perth.
On the return journey this had compounded to the point where the 65 was running 30 minutes late leaving Perth and was over 45 minutes late arriving in St Andrews - in good time for the 95 after the one I had planned to catch…
