St Monans, Elie and Kilconquhar Shuttle Bus...
... during roadworks Monday 29th January 2024 to Friday 15th March 2024.
Phase 1 of these roadworks complete as of Saturday 24th February 2024.
For the latest news see our post:
A917 Elie roadworks phase 1 complete
As of Saturday 24th February the 95 has returned to its normal route through Kilconquhar, Elie and St Monans. The A917 roadworks continue between Shell Bay Road End and the B942 so the X60 is following the same route as the 95! The Stagecoach announcement
For reference here is the article covering Phase 1 and the associated Shuttle Bus:
Roadworks are closing the A917 between Elie and the B942 junction.
The roadworks are scheduled to run from 07:00 on Monday 29th January 2024 until 23:59 on Friday 15th March or earlier completion.
The roadworks are being broken into two phases with the most disrupting section between Elie and the Shell Bay Road End closed from Monday 29th January to Saturday 3rd March (or earlier completion).
During this period 95 and X60 buses will divert missing out St Monans, Elie and Kilconquhar.
A FREE Shuttle Bus will operate between Pittenweem, St Monans, Elie, Kilconquhar and Colinsburgh - see lower down this page for the Shuttle Bus Timetable.
(The second period of roadworks will follow immediately after the completion of the first phase and will cover the A917 between Shell Bay Road End and the B942 junction - only the X60 will divert during this period, and NO Shuttle Bus will operate.)

How does this affect you?
School pupils should have received separate notification of how the roadworks will affect their school bus services.
Colinsburgh - bus services will improve as the diverted X60 will stop near Colinsburgh Primary School to exchange passengers with the Shuttle Bus - allowing direct access to the X60 in Colinsburgh.
The times that the X60 stops in Colinsburgh are shown on the Shuttle Bus timetables lower down this page.
Kilconquhar - the shuttle bus will operate a one-way loop through Kilconquhar:
The Shuttle Bus from Colinsburgh towards Elie, St Monans and Pittenweem will only stop in St Andrews Road on its way from Cairnie Crossroads to the Balbuthie Road - this is on the same side of the road as the normal 95 service towards Elie.
The Shuttle Bus from Pittenweem, St Monans and Elie towards Colinsburgh will only stop outside Kilconquhar Church - this is on the opposite side of the road to the normal 95 service to Colinsburgh.
Not on the shuttle bus route? If you need to get to or from places in the roadworks area not covered by the Shuttle Bus then the Go Flexi Bus will be available - you need to book this bus at least an hour in advance by calling: 01382 540 624.
Elie and St Monans - the Shuttle Bus is attempting to replace both the X60 and 95 and at some times of day will manage two visits per hour in each direction at Elie and St Monans - it does this by doing one journey from Pittenweem via St Monans to Elie then returning via St Monans to Pittenweem, and one journey from Pittenweem via St Monans, Elie and Kilconquhar to Colinsburgh then returning via Kilconquhar, Elie and St Monans to Pittenweem.
Itโs probably going to be best to change to and from the normal service bus in Pittenweem.
Three different Shuttle Bus timetables operate on Weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Here is the Weekday timetable:
The timetable can be quite difficult to follow as it is trying to show the times of the Shuttle Bus and the times of the 95/X60 connecting buses in both Pittenweem and Colinsburgh.
The orange/yellow background highlighting on some of the times shows where the 95/X60 service bus will wait until the later arrival of the Shuttle Bus to exchange passengers - the 95/X60 should be able to catch up from this delay as the diversion route is shorter than the normal bus route.
For example, the 08:04 Shuttle Bus from Colinsburgh is due to get to Pittenweem Milton Road at 08:21 - the X60 to St Andrews was due to leave the same stop at 08:17 but will wait until the Shuttle Bus arrives on weekdays.
The pink/peach background highlighting on the last Shuttle Bus journey indicates a journey that only operates on Friday night (the early hours of Saturday morning) connecting in Pittenweem with the 01:10 Friday/Saturday only 95 service that terminates at Toll Road, Cellardyke.
Here is the Saturday timetable:
On Saturday the Shuttle Bus manages to run two return services between Elie and Pittenweem at more times during the day.
Note that different connections are highlighted with yellow background - so you may need to decide to take a different journey on Saturday to the one you would take on a weekday.
And here is the Sunday timetable:
Note how the Shuttle Bus manages to operate two services an hour between Pittenweem and Elie for much of Sunday - a much better service than a normal Sunday!
But, beware that the Shuttle Bus will be quite small, due to having to travel on narrow single track roads - so if you were planning to take a large group of walkers out for a Sunday ramble using the Shuttle Bus, you may find that the group has to split itself over successive journeysโฆ
The Fife Council recommended diversion for commercial vehicles takes account of the narrow roads as shown here - the B942 is the route that the diverted 95 and X60 will follow:
